Existing work can be licensed to be used for all sorts of purposes – on websites, in scientific publications, books, magazines, teaching material etc. In basically all cases there is a license fee to be paid for the drawing’s use. The amount depends greatly on the nature, duration and scale of use. Distinction is made between exclusive/non-exclusive, commercial/non-commercial and scientific + educational/other use. In the case of many illustrations being licensed at once, e.g. for a book or poster, I am more than happy to give a discount on the total amount.

While many of my paintings are free to re-use, not all of them are. Currently I have illustrations of 63 species of cetacean available for licensing, many of these represented by multiple illustrations for variations in gender, age and subspecies or populations. In addition I have illustrated 4 cetacean hybrids, as well as a couple of other marine animals. For a complete overview of my available work, please send me an e-mail and I can send you my scientific illustration licensing catalogue.

Looking for a species that isn’t featured (yet)? We can always discuss the possibilities of a custom commission.
